Dave is a Certified Petroleum Geologist with over 39 years of experience throughout Canada and the USA. During his career, Dave has held various executive positions in several junior oil and gas exploration and production companies. Dave is a graduate of the University of Calgary (1981), and has been a Director of SIMMONS EDECO since 2010.
Victor H. Redekop
After launching his career with the Farm Credit Corporation as a Loan Officer, Victor Redekop joined the accounting firm Collins Barrow in 1971, and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1973. Victor joined SIMMONS EDECO as Controller in 1973, and was appointed Executive Vice President in 1974.
He holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture (Economics) from the University of Manitoba, which he earned in 1968.
Jay serves as CEO of Durum Capital Inc., overseeing the management of all assets in the Durum portfolio. Jay began his career at Deloitte & Touch where he learned a Chartered Accountant designation and focused on Insolvency and Corporate Restructuring in the Financial and Special Services Department.
He went on to build his own private holding company, Simmons Financial Holdings Corp. (SFHC), a personal holding company that takes an active role in a portfolio of businesses that require either financial restructuring or patient and active capital to fund new ventures. SFHC is a primary investor in all Durum Capital assets under management. Jay often takes an active role in management and sits as a Director of his investment companies. He has created a culture that holds governance in high regard and is proud of the group of people assembled to govern each of the investments managed by Durum Capital Inc.
Jay received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University. He also earned a CPA, CA designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants and his ICD.D designation from the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors.
Niels Versfeld - Chief Executive Officer
Niels came on-board as Chief Executive Officer SIMMONS EDECO in 2017. In this role, he is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy and operating performance of the company. Niels has 16 years experience in the energy sector, 10 of which have been dedicated to the management of sales, operations, and business development for energy services firms.
Before joining SIMMONS EDECO, he served as General Manager of Gibson Energy’s Environmental Services Division, during which time he was instrumental in expanding the company’s businesses in Canada and the United States. Previously, he worked as Chief Operations Officer for Palko Environmental, until Gibson Energy acquired it in 2011. Throughout the course of his career, Versfeld has worked in a variety of roles, initially as an environmental consultant serving the energy sector, and as an Environment & Regulatory Manager for CCS Corporation.
Versfeld holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Environmental Science and an MBA in Global Energy Management & Sustainable Development from University of Calgary. He is also a Canadian Certified Environmental Professional.
Chris H. Reimchen - Chief Financial Officer
In 1983, Chris joined the company as staff accountant responsible for the financial reporting of various companies within the group. He was promoted to Controller in 1988, and then appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2001. Reimchen is responsible for managing all fiscal aspects of the company’s performance.
He earned a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting from the University of Calgary in 1981, and completed was granted the Certified Management Accountant designation in 1987.
Rob Matheson - Vice-President of Business Development
After accepting the position of Director of Operations - Albania for SIMMONS EDECO in 2009, Rob was promoted to Vice President of Business Development in 2012. Since then, he has been managing operations, and global marketing and business development initiatives, particularly in Mexico, Europe, Albania, the Middle East and Canada.
Before joining SIMMONS EDECO, he worked as Manager of East Coast Exploration for Forent Energy, a Calgary-based oil and gas company, and as President and CEO of wireline services company Accurate Technologies, which he founded in 2000 and operated to 2007.He launched his career in the oil and gas industry as a wireline field engineer and manager of Calgary operations for Baker Atlas.
Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Matheson earned a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology from Dalhousie University in 1990, and an MBA from the University of Calgary in 2002.
Alexander Moya – Country Operations Manager – Mexico
Alex was appointed as SIMMONS EDECO’s Country Operations Manager- Mexico in 2015. He has more than 24 years of experience in the drilling industry, beginning as a BOP and drilling tools specialist with Santa Fe Drilling - Venezuela in 1998. In 2006 Alex commenced upon an intensive development program to assume various roles on the drilling side of the business; becoming a Rig superintendent for Precision Drilling, Weatherford Drilling International and Calmena Energy Services in Venezuela and Mexico from 2006 - 2012.
In 2012, Alex was promoted to the position of Operations Manager for Calmena, responsible for overseeing all operations, business and contracts in Mexico. Following the acquisition of the Calmena rig fleet by SIMMONS EDECO, he joined the company in his current capacity.
Moya is a Mechanical Engineer with a specialism in maintenance. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Santiago Mariño Polytechnic University Institute in Venezuela.
